Reading have the pressure, says Oscar

Albion head coach Oscar Garcia has turned the heat up on Reading in the play-off race by insisting the pressure is on them.

The Seagulls head to Nottingham Forest tomorrow needing to better Reading's result at home to Burnley to leapfrog them into sixth.

Oscar said: "I am really proud of the season the players are having. They have given everything and deserve to have this chance.

"We are one point below Reading. All the pressure is on them. We have nothing to lose, not only because we are one point below them but also because they have just come down from the Premier League."

Matt Upson, Dale Stephens, Keith Andrews and Bruno have all been under treatment ahead of the trip to the City Ground.

Oscar said: "We have quite a big injury list but we need to wait until the end of the training session to know who will be available."

I think the fact that the matches are being televised will mean that Burnley won't want to go out with a whimper. Plus their players will either be playing for their places in the Prem, or to put themselves in the shop window if they're likely to be surplus to requirements next season.

I think Burnley will get at least a draw. We just need to make sure we do the business against Forest.

If I were Burnley I'd be wanting Brighton to get to the play-offs rather than Reading, because if by some fluke we managed to get promoted we'd be easier opposition for them next season! I agree though, I think the Burnley players will want to play with some pride on the telly and prove that they are premiership class players. I take Reading to draw. As for the Albion, who knows? We've been all shades of inconsistent this season, like all the teams from 4th to 10th. Lottery ticket, anyone?

Definitely all to play for even though Reading clearly have the edge. However if we stay positive and put in a performance against Forest we could still reach the play-offs..

1:15pm out here, which is weird 'cos I thought we were both in Worthing ;-)

I hope you set multiple alarms clocks, this would be a bad one to miss.

Although I would rather be in Reading's position re points, I don't envy the pressure or having to play Burnley who, despite others' concerns, will, I believe, give it their best.

We play Burnley at home on Saturday, and have one more point than Reading, who go to Forest.
I prefer our situation even with the points difference.
Nigel Adkins is making all the right noises, but I think he knows the game is up.

Reading are under enormous pressure. They are the favourites and they have the added pressure of playing in front of their own fans. Brighton are not under any pressure or expectation and they can quietly go about the match in a determined way.

Usually what happens against teams that have nothing to play for is they do well for most of the match but fade in the last 10 minutes as sub consciously they look forward to the end of the season and look forward to next

Even if we do finish in the play offs, what then? We've stumbled and staggered our way in, hardly the sort of form that will have the likes of Derby and Wigan quaking in their boots. Even if we got past them then Bloom won't spend the necessary money to compete in the prem, it's a pretty bleak outlook whatever happens this weekend and the silence from the suits speaks volumes.

LOL you are in Worthing. You really think your little chat proves your not hahah.Just 15 posts on this from a club with about 35k fans, and half from the 2 same people that never really go to games. My god get a life and some real friends will you.Or just find a chat room and give this site back to real fans that really go to games.
I knew someone who spoke like he was Gus Poyet's next door neighbour. Always had an opinion on what Gus was planning, what Gus was thinking. Of course it was all fantasy as the "relationship" he had with Gus was all in his head. Thought he'd never leave Brighton but it all ended in tears. A lot of fans are like that especially some on this forum. Some will have imaginary friends and I'm sure Tony Bloom is one of them.

I suppose it's human nature to identify with the smiling face on TV and look at them as friends even though you hardly know them and they certainly don't know you.

If I get a massive thumbs down that only proves my point

Exactly. Bloom tried to get promotion on the cheap when he could have appointed someone of the calibre of Pulis or Holloway. Managers who know this promotion lark is all about.
