Albion celebrate in style - then take the applause from Forest fans

The tension builds in the second half

Albion celebrated play-off qualification with their jubilant fans today – and were then applauded off the pitch by Forest supporters.

The Seagulls are heading to a semi-final showdown with Derby County thanks to their last-gasp 2-1 win at Forest today.

It was their first win at the City Ground for ten years and only the fourth in their history.

Reading’s game – a 2-2 draw with Burnley – had ended as the last few moments were played out.

Then the final whistle sounded to spark a party in the Bridgford Stand.

Some players threw their shirts to fans, including Ulloa himself.

The Argentinean was last to take their salute after giving an interview on the pitch.

They were memorable scenes for Seagulls followers - both by the Trent and watching on TV - who had endured a nervous afternoon.

And one final accolade was yet to come.

As they made their way towards the tunnel midway inside the other half of the pitch, Albion players received a generous ovation from Forest’s supporters.

They were scenes reminiscent of the generous farewell Albion supporters gave Yeovil at the Amex eight days ago.

But these had an altogether more upbeat feel about them.

Albion are heading to the play-offs.

im so pleased we are there but i dont feel like last year. i was very confident last yr we was bang on form and i thought we would stroll them. this year i look and think i dont fancy playing any of them. but with oscars calmness that could be pivotal to beating derby and anyone else. heres hoping anyway UTA as always

So much for my prediction in February of 7th or 8th. Full credit to the Albion. Now it's a lottery. On form Derby just shade it and obviously league form is in their favour but it is 2 games and anything can happen as we know from last year. I relish the atmosphere at the Amex. UTA

Remember that Palace stuttered into play offs last season and showed that anything can happen. I'm feeling a lot calmer about things this season - as far as I am concerned we are in bonus territory now

Exactly, all bets are off now, Derby's points and goals scored count for nothing, two games from a fantastic day out at Wembley.

Watched the games from a bar in Tenerife. Brighton celebrations brought just slightly more joy than the misery of the cheats from up the M4. Gutted Adkins, not so positive now.

In reality though we were fortunate as we lacked quality for most of the game. But hey ho it's a top result and one I never expected from Burnley but I did expect us to play better than we did.

Well done Nottingham Forest ,no time wasting,90 minutes of attacking football from both sides .23 games like that would easily fill the stadium week after week for both sides.Oscar was the most excited I've ever seen him, with the substitution and and fully committed team performance a really fantastic result. Difficult to pick the man of the match but TK kept us in the match with a fantastic save later on after his earlier mistake, all credit to him for not letting it spoil his day ,and ours. The rest of the day, after that early kickoff is going to be an anti-climax
