Boss John Gregory insists he had no hesitation in signing a new two-year contract at Crawley Town despite recent cutbacks at the club.

Gregory already had another 12 months to run on the contract he signed when he took over as manager in December but agreed a deal which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2015-16 before today’s game with Bristol City.

Reds have closed their academy and made numerous redundancies in recent months with Gregory admitting players could face a pay cut next season too.

But the former Aston Villa boss is satisfied he will have a budget to take the club forward next season.

Gregory said: “I thought long and hard about it. We have been discussing it for a few weeks and it was something I had considered for a while.

“I’ve been very happy here. I asked questions about next season, about the budgets and the chances of us being able to improve the squad and once they were answered in the way I wanted them to be I had no hesitation.

“It is a fantastic club so it was not a difficult decision for me and I look forward to having a lot of success over the next few years.”
