Ashley Barnes has backed his former Albion team-mates to join him in the Premier League with Burnley after helping them reach the play-offs.

Barnes was badgered by his ex-colleagues all week, urging already promoted Burnley to take points off the Seagulls' play-off rivals Reading.

Burnley obliged by holding the Royals to a 2-2 draw at the Madejski Stadium, which combined with Albion's late 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest meant Oscar Garcia's side sneaked into sixth.

Striker Barnes, sold to Burnley in January, said: "I've had enough phone calls off them! Keith (Andrews), Wardy, Kaz, Bucks, Gordy (Greer), everybody basically. I said we'd try our best and we'd go out and win no matter what.

"I'm delighted for them and I hope they go all the way. I'm sure they've got a great chance, it's normally the ones that sneak in last who've got the momentum and I'm sure they'll do well.”
