Andrews hails Albion Premier class

The Argus: Keith Andrews Keith Andrews

Keith Andrews has labelled Albion a Premier League club in waiting.

The midfielder on loan from Bolton believes it is a case of when, rather than if, the Seagulls reach the top flight ahead of tonight's first leg of the play-offs against Derby County at the Amex.

Andrews made his Albion debut as a late sub in the 2-1 home defeat by Derby back in August.

He said: "There are loan moves I could have taken which geographically were better for me but ambition wise this was the right place to go.

"The attendances exceed some Premier League stadiums. The training ground is opening in the summer, the catchment area - it's got real momentum behind it and there are genuinely passionate people behind it.

"If we can do it this year that would be fantastic but I've no doubt it will come, sooner rather than later."

Andrews, 33, is still contracted to Bolton next season but would love to be playing for Albion again.

The Irishman said: "I've always been one to try to achieve things in my career and if we manage it and the club want to sit down and talk, and if we don't manage to get there, this club has become very close to me.

"I've really, really enjoyed my time here. The people here are genuine, so I would love to be back here playing but, as it stands, I am contracted to another club for next season."

I know he's fairly maligned on here, but I like the guy and what he brings to the team. He's a water-carrier, no doubt, but I've seen him hit some beautiful passes. The only major thing lacking is goals - which he has scored elsewhere - but that's probably due to his role.

Steady performer but slows the plY up in midfield, rarely passes on befor three or more touches, when we require the first time pass. For a seasoned pro made the awful error of not even looking up befor clearing the ball to Nf player which led to their goal. not one for the future in my opinion.

I'm with you ,he is not prem class for sure, bet if he was a water carrier his bucket would be empty within seconds, the only guarentee with this guy is he will pass more to the opposition than his /our team. not even 20% of Bridcutt, who i wish we still had(or the bridders of last year not the shadow of himself this year for us or Sunderland when he has looked lost! )

I think he is a better motivator than player . You hear him talking to the players more than GG most games.

What pure non-football rubbish yet again from the man that never goes to games.
