9:32am

9:58pm

Looked like Albion were a bit unlucky not to get a spot kick for holding by Buxton on Ulloa.

That's it from me, Brian Owen, from the press rom at the Amex for this liveblog but look out for more Albion content elsewhere on the website this evening.

9:40pm

Albion are being applauded off. Deserved better tonight but the tie is just about still alive.

9:38pm

90+1: Into four added minutes and Thorne is booked for bringing down LuaLua. Derby send on Hughes for Bryson. LuaLua's 30-yard blast from the free-kick hits a defender.

90+2: Grant comes a long way to catch as Forster-Caskey lofts a ball into the box.

Final: Albion 1 Derby 2

9:27pm

84: Forsyth booked for foul.

9:25pm

81: Grant to Derby's rescue again. He parries a Lingard blast and then brilliantly tips over Ward's shot from the edge of the box.

81: Lingard replaced by Mackail-Smith.

82: Forster-Caskey booked for a foul.

9:21pm

72: Sammon goes on for Ward

77: Sammon booked for a foul on March near the corner flag - but March badly overhits the resulting free-kick.

9:14pm

66: First Derby change as Dawkins replaces Russell.

70: Albion send on March for Orlandi as they look for extra attacking spark.

9:05pm

61: Albion so close as Ulloa's shot is fingertipped against the bar by Grant and the rebound just eludes Lingard.

8:59pm

56: Calderon shoots well over from the edge of the area after great hold-up play by Ulloa. But the moment offers encouragement to home fans.

8:58pm

52: Andrews takes one for the team as he is booked for a foul on Jamie Ward to halt a dangerous counter after Albion over-elaborate over a corner.

54: LuaLua cuts inside and shoots well over under pressure. But Oscar and Nathan Jones applaud the passing beforehand and his willingness to have a go. Albion, though, are lacking direction in attack.

8:52pm

47: Derby fans think they have scored as Jamie Ward's low cross hits Andrews and bounces just wide after another incisive counter raid.

8:48pm

LuaLua replaced Buckley at half-time

8:33pm

Half-time: Albion 1 Derby 2

8:33pm

45+1: Derby ahead as Martin fires a shot against the bar and it bounces in off the back of KUSZCZAK

8:29pm

43: First murmurings of disquiet among home support quelled by a nice move left to right which ends in Calderon curling in a cross which no one can quite reach.

8:26pm

40: Forster-Caskey's loose header just outside his own box tees up a half chance for Bryson, who cannot get over the bouncing ball and shoots over.

8:26pm

40: Forster-Caskey's loose header just outside his own box tees up a half chance for Bryson, who cannot get over the bouncing ball and shoots over.

8:23pm

36: Jamie Ward booked for a foul

8:21pm

36: Lovely build-up down the left by Albion but Ulloa cannot get power into his downward header Ward's cross loops gently into the air off a defender and Grant holds low to his left.

8:17pm

31: Derby counter-attack again and Russell's low cross slithers across the goalmouth.

8:15pm

29: Neat passing through the middle by Derby. Forsyth tries to find a way through a crowd of players and is fouled by Upson. MARTIN slides home the spot kick sending Kuszczak the wrong way.

8:13pm

27: Low drive by Calderon blocked in the goalmouth as Ulloa tries to turn it in.

8:07pm

20: Gasps around the stadium as Russell's inswinging free-kick from the right beats everyone and curls just wide of the far post.

8:05pm

18: Bryson shoves Buckley in the back by the touchline and Albion take the free-kick quickly. Calderon gets beind the defence, crosses low and the ball is rifled home by LINGARD.

7:59pm

People saying this was going to be cagey but very open. Albion stringing some neat football together

7:58pm

10: Neat passing from Albion and howls for a penalty - from crowd rather than players - as Calderon goes down under pressure.

12: Good stuff down the right and Calderon's whipped-in cross is headed over his own bar by Keogh. Grant holds Orlandi's deep, inswinging corner.

7:54pm

07: First spell of Derby possession and Russell slides a dangerous ball across the goalmouth which no one can reach.

08: Calderon booked for sliding in late on Forsyth

7:48pm

01: Buckley wins a very early free-kick on the byline and Albion work it quickly. But Orlandi's unchallenged cross is overhit.

7:44pm

No change of ends. We are all set to go.

7:39pm

Brian Owen here in the press box.

Definitely a more relaxed feel to this play-off than for the second leg against Palace last season. Feels more like a normal league game.

Pitchside announcer Richard Reynolds probably summed it up with his opening line a little while ago when he said: "Well this is a nice little bonus, isn't it?"

7:35pm

7:28pm

Derby's injured skipper Shaun Barker is in the Press area.

7:28pm

Looks like the Brighton team is Kuszczak, Calderon, Greer, Upson, Ward; Andrews, Forster-Caskey, Lingard; Orlandi, Ulloa, Buckley

7:13pm

Another lovely message for the team in blue and white.

7:11pm

7:10pm

7:09pm

Team news stories are now online.

7:02pm

7:00pm

Sounds like the A27 is getting heavy.

6:59pm

Reports coming in of Deby fans manically trying to park up and get to the stadium for kick-off.

6:51pm

There has been talk around the stadium of fans arriving late on the trains.

But a Southern Rail spokesman has told The Argus that there is no problem with trains heading to Falmer and extra services are running as planned.

6:50pm

Albion team is as started at Forest

6:49pm

6:48pm

Tim Ridgeway has been listening to Albion songs at Brighton station.

6:48pm

Derby's team is as per The Argus today, meaning Hughes and Bamford are on the bench.

6:34pm

Gareth has spotted plenty of fans trying to get a pre-match drink.

6:32pm

Andy Naylor has heard some other news about The Albion.

6:21pm

Brian Owen checking in from the Amex press box. Surprisingly dry and free of mist and breeze here in the West Lower compared to conditions outside and, certainly, compared to what it was like coming over the racecourse.

Derby's players are just emerging for a stroll on the pitch.

Will Hughes pauses for a chat with a reporter.

6:19pm

Gareth adds:

Tony Pring and Geoff 'Gully' Harris have come down from Tunbridge Wells for the game.

They were snapped in their Albion hats by Argus photographer Simon Dack.

The boys think they'll take a two or three goal lead up to Derby in Sunday.

Tony said: "They've finished well and they do deserve third spot, but I think it'll be a repeat of the Forest game.

"We were the underdogs then and nobody was giving us a chance, but we still came through."

Geoff thinks after Derby's two league wins against the Seagulls, the Rams will be heading south a bit over confident.

6:16pm

More from reporter Gareth Davies at the stadium:

There's a really positive vibe here among the fans as they battle the gale-force winds from the train station up to the stadium.

Despite the Seagulls having lost twice to Derby in the league this season, fans are predicting taking at least a draw up to the iPro on Sunday.

Supporters are making full use of the shelter by piling into the club shop or Dick's Bar.

Two hours til kick off and the atmosphere is building nicely.

6:13pm

6:11pm

Reporter Gareth Davies is meeting more fans ready for the big match, including one whose night will be extra special...

6:09pm

6:04pm

The Albion may have finished with 13 points less than Derby this season but that all goes out of the window tonight and on Sunday.

5:53pm

5:53pm

5:50pm

5:49pm

More from Gareth...

5:49pm

But still the nerves kick in with the faithful fans:

5:45pm

5:43pm

More positive predictions coming in via reporter Gareth Davies:

5:33pm

Albion coach Oscar Garcia has told his players to play without fear tonight.

http://tinyurl.com/o4oxue2

5:29pm

Argus reporter Andy Naylor has hopefully got tonight's storyline in the bag already:

5:26pm

5:26pm

But it's mostly all about the excitement:

5:25pm

5:25pm

There's plenty of nerves among the fans too as it's such a big game.

5:25pm

5:23pm

5:23pm

5:20pm

Plenty of Albion fans arriving too.

5:13pm

The Albion do seem to do well in tight matches so they could be in a strong position for the second leg of this big play-off semi-final come Sunday.

5:11pm

Reporter Gareth Davies has arrived.

5:09pm

5:09pm

5:09pm

5:08pm

And the away fans have apparently started arriving too.

5:08pm

5:07pm

5:07pm

Twitter is buzzing with excitement and good wishes to the team ahead of the game. Following is a few of those Tweets.

5:06pm

Our sports reporter Brian Owen will be bringing you all the action from the game here too.

5:03pm

As well as our coverage tonight tomorrow's Argus will have comprehensive reports from the night and reaction to the game.

5:01pm

Our reporter Gareth Davies will be arriving at the Amex soon to speak to fans ahead of the big match.

4:37pm

It's the biggest night of the season at the Amex. And we are bringing you all the build-up followed by on-field action from tonight's play-off semi-final first leg.

For some, it will also be one of the most hectic early evenings of the season as they hurry from work to Falmer to see Albion take on Derby.

Our news team will let you know how the rush to the Amex is going and bring you the scenes from outside the stadium.

Albion were asking fans who needed to collect tickets to arrive 90 minutes before kick-off with big queues expected.

We will have team news about an hour before the game gets under way, then bulletins from the contest between sixth and third-placed teams in the Championship.

There will also be additional content on the Albion section of our website. The comprehensive service Seagulls fans are used to, in fact.

And you will have no shortage of opportunity to have your say.

It promises to be a lively evening. We will bring the excitement and drama of it all right here...

Having to walk to the car passed all the singing Derby fans is not a happy time for me. What did they do? One penalty and a shot against the bar that bounced in off the goalie. Also Kuz saved a cross that went to Greer to clear. Both our cbs had a naff game and why was JFC on the pitch; he just doesn't peform consistently; a bit like Lopez.

Need to turn Derby over a theirs cos they did not deserve tonight.

Good effort from our lads. The better football players but coulda.... shoulda....blah blah.....Oscar has struggled to get the team scoring all season, he could ask himself why?

As for FCaskey, he is miles better than Andrews....a player like I have never seen before...why does he get so many games? I just cannot see what he offers apart from the ability to point to where other players should pass or mark up. In this match his impersonation of the Bridcutt role was paper-thin. He was to some extent culpable for the second goal. He clatters their player, then waves his arms as if to say ooher! The player then gets up takes a few steps, receives the ball and wallop. Watch it.

At the match and I am afraid our midfield was operating from the halfway line and totally pedestrian, no pace whatsover and JFC totally out of his depth in this one, cannot understand why Ince did not play and why wait until 11 mins from time to bring on CMS,just don't understand the OG thinking on this at all.
blatant penalty on Ulloa and constant shirt pulling which always goes unpunished by the official who was pretty awful and not consistent, but then thats the norm these days.
Big difference for me was that Derby ran the midfield, had pace and moved in numbers, something we just don't do.Again crossing and corners pretty poor,as have been all season.
Very disappointing again but Albion do seem to play better away from home, the next goal scored in these play offs will probably decide the eventual outcome.
For the replay lets see Ince and March play from the start,no JFC please he was awful tonight and should have been subbed at half time but OG seems to be blinkered with him.

Crappie analysis Tub really poor. Most skillful and talented player at the club, tries the unexpected and unlocks defences. Not at his best tonite, but still showed much technique and control to open up the Derby defence.

First off all, It is only half time, we can win up there...

Distribution out from Upson, Greer & Andrews was very poor tonight

And although Kaz can be good he is very much a one trick pony.

Receives ball, WAITS until 2 players come to him, he may then try a 1,2 with ward, but usually cuts inside and either overhits cross or shoots into row Z.
He has the speed why does he not get at their defence.

Tonight Lingard was MOM he was involved in most of our attacks, scored the goal and twice in the 1st half raced back to cover derby's attack down the right.
Overall I thought it was an entertaining game, that we were unlucky to lose. I still think there could be a few twists and turns up at their place.
I would like to see CMS get at least 30mins.
Still hoping for a visit to wembley

Too slow. Afraid to shoot. Nice touches going backwards. Get it in the box, have players with some pace to get on the end of crosses, and shoot on site.
Such a simple game, and Derby played it as it should be.Oh well, there's always next year

There is still next sunday
We are good away from home, and a win takes us at least into extra time.

Well I think this is a good thing. Derby are a good side that we could have beaten. Another ref would have given us an early penalty and McClaren was very honest in his comments after the game. It is only half-time and the positive for me is that we have to go all out for a win in the second leg. If we are good enough we go through. If we are not then it has still been a season better than I expected.
Watching from Spain I had a sinking feeling when that early penalty was turned down. I thought, I don't like this ref! Trying to be unbiased but he lost it big time and I hope he doesn't get the second leg. Que sera sera.

And you failed.

Crappie analysis Tub really poor. Most skillful and talented player at the club, tries the unexpected and unlocks defences. Not at his best tonite, but still showed much technique and control to open up the Derby defence.
Fantastic post Tug.

This freeloader is the ulimate luxury player, except real luxury players usually doing something, occasionally.

Granted ,a post from pure frustration and passion ,but in my defence ,in PO games ,you have to take your chances ,and 5 bad corners ,giving them a chance for a breakaway goal ,is not taking chances ,it`s throwing them away ,and as we found out ,we could`nt afford that .Imho he was terrible at Forest and worse last night .

It's been more obvious all season why Gus left and Oscar looks just as frustrated after last years play offs, if we want a manager let him manage and give him the backing. No signings but we sell play most the season with just 1 striker and a lot of young players and we still get to play offs maybe OSCAR is the man but bloom needs to back him and get the players me wants. Otherwise I'm afraid it's another end of season where it ruin next seasons start and more excuses
