Chris Jordan has been ruled out of Sussex’s County Championship clash with Durham at Hove tomorrow.

Coach Mark Robinson had hoped the seamer would be available for the match against the defending champions but England have asked that Jordan be rested.

England Jimmy Anderson and Harry Gurney are the only other two England players who featured in yesterday’s victory over Scotland who are not being made available for their counties.

Jordan, who has already missed two of Sussex’s first four Championship games, will be allowed to play in the opening NatWest T20 Blast match against Surrey at Hove on Friday.

Jordan helped England to a 39-run win in Aberdeen yesterday.

A half-century from Ian Bell, and opening stand of 83 with his captain Alastair Cook, allowed the visitors to set a Duckworth-Lewis target of 173 in a match which started several hours late at 23-overs-per-side and was reduced to 20 by another heavy shower.

Jordan hit the only ball he faced for six and later took 1-24 from four overs.

His Sussex colleague Matt Machan scored 33 off 38 balls in Scotland’s 133-9 from 20 overs.
