Albion at Derby - who gets your nod?

The Argus: Will Buckley went down with hamstring trouble on Thursday Will Buckley went down with hamstring trouble on Thursday

There is not much margin for error now. So what team should Albion send out today?

It looks like Oscar Garcia will be forced into changes for the second leg of the play-off semi-final against Derby.

Both Will Buckley and Matt Upson are struggling with injury ahead of the showdown at the iPro Stadium.

So who comes in for them? And are there other alterations you would make after the 2-1 defeat home?

Does Craig Mackail-Smith start? Are changes necessary in midfield?

Would you restore David Lopez to the 18 in case of a penalty shoot out?

Albion need to score at least one goal today. But they can probably not afford to concede first.

It's a balancing act for Oscar. So what team would you select and how would you play things at Derby this afternoon?

I am not sure if Buckley is fit but if so I would start him and I would also play CMS in one of the wide positions if need be, he looks like he is hungry to do well and has a eye for goal. JFC for me looked out his depth in our last game so I would not risk playing him again this season

Cannot afford to risk players struggling, look at Upson Thursday night, he would normally have got the ball and not given away the penalty!
TK, Caldi, Greer, Dunk, Ward,
Ince, March, Orlandi, LuaLua,
Cms, Ulloa.
All the above to run their hearts out!
Subs, Brez/Casper, Chicksen, Lingard, Rodney, Lopez, Andrews, Jfc.
Cms will tire, when he does bring on Lingard, Lopez on for Orlandi for the same reason and Rodney on and Caldi off with 15 minutes to go if we still need a goal! If we are in front, Andrews or Jfc for March to shore up the midfield. Feeling really confident today, 1-3 Albion and on to Wembley! UTA

That would be pretty much my selection too. The problem is though Lingard has to start, if fit, under the terms of the loan agreement with MU. CMS though gives us far greater pace and more of a goal threat and would be the difference between us getting a result and not, as will probably be the case today. So near, yet so far, a real shame!!

Lingard finish's his loan either today or at Wembley, so no pressure to start him imo, he will get on second half so I don't think Man U will mind to much, if we can get to Wembley he will also be on the pitch at some point, and at his age that's not to be sniffed at.
Reward is for the brave, and today everyone needs to step up, Oscar included, be positive from the off and not be set up to go out and hope to score one on the break, that will play into Derby's hands, let's put them on the back foot from the start instead, get the first goal and then push for the second, they have beaten us 3 times this season, it can't happen again!

We get a young lad in on loan who scores 4 goals, making him our 3rd highest scorer this season behind Ulloa & Crofts and you want to DROP him!!!

Meanwhile LuaLua MUst play, Having scored 1 goal all season , and that wasn't a shot

Let OG make the decision, He has got us this far

Attack does not mean no defence. I do wonder sometimes and this is not being holier than anyone, just basics. But opinions are opinions and mine is no more or less...
Anyway i am sure OG will get it right(?). Since we're on the subject i suppose i better confirm some thumbs down by including Andrews. If we've got any chance it's going to be winning the midfield. So i'd play Ince and Andrews, drop JFC to the bench and replace a winger with CMS to give Big Len a hand. Playing two defensive midfielders is not negative if we push higher up the pitch. An advanced ball winner can get us the ball where we need it. Stop them from playing it on the counter, retain possession and force them long. We need to play narrow in my humble and wrestle the ball from the their midfield. It will not be pretty and a lot of banging against a locked door but it's our best chance without risking too much space for them to exploit on the counter. I have a feeling that with the absence of Buckley that JFC will retain his place in my sangria drinking friends line up with CMS drafted in. But if i was in charge (coughs) and for the sake of lists:
PIG
Calde, Greer, Dunk, Ward
Ince
Orlandi, Andrews, Lingard,
CMS,
Big Len.

Given the circumstances, a quick phone call to United would deal with any, 'starting,' issues that might exist. I can not see United causing us problems with just one match left, and that is if a starting requirement actually exists.
