Albion midfielder makes England debut

The Argus: Jake Forster-Caskey comes on to replace the injured Harry Kane last night Jake Forster-Caskey comes on to replace the injured Harry Kane last night

Jake Forster-Caskey made his England under-21 debut in unusual circumstances last night.

The Albion midfielder got on after 85 minutes of the 3-1 win over Wales at Swansea in a European Championship qualifier.

Forster-Caskey, pictured, and his Seagulls colleague Solly March looked to have missed out as they watched from the bench.

But injury to their fellow sub Harry Kane just six minutes after he went on gave Forster-Caskey his chance.

The Albion pair now head off with Gareth Southgate’s squad to the Toulon tournament where they are sure to enjoy playing time.

Nathan Redmond scored all three England goals with former Albion loanee Jesse Lingard going close.

Gwion Edwards, the Swansea winger who had a stint on loan at Crawley recently, scored the goal which brought Wales level in the first half. Reds defender Joe Walsh also played for the hosts.

Well it's a reflection of attainment we could only have dreamed of ten years ago. It says BHA on our badge not AFCB so take it for what it is and be satisfied we're making progress.

I watched the game last night although Jesse Lingard is not an Albion player his loan to us has obviously helped him keep match fit he played a brilliant game . Jake did what was asked of him when he came on . Solly an unused sub but obviously there for a reason . Who would have thought that the Club would have Young Current International Players coming through . Rohan is another surely that must be knocking on the door, then there is Walton the Goalie . The Development of young players is obviously coming on and with the Academy and Training Ground ready to begin things are really looking up.

I do remember going to see Bobby Z at the Madejski about 12 years ago for the England U21's. Dan harding also got a call up when he was with us as well. But to have some homegrown talent coming through to represent their country is a massive step by our club.

Saying that... Bobby didn't even come on!

Do any U-21s ever make the full England team? Who was the last Brighton player to play for England? Steve Foster? Would be great to have some academy players coming through who eventually reach such heights (preferably while staying with us). I know we have some other internationals but I'm fairly cynical when I hear the radio commentators saying so and so "the republic ireland international" , with respect :) Good recognition for BHAFC to have this representation by JFC but would think March and Ince have more chance in the long run judging from the performances I've watched.

Bobby Zamora played at full senior level for England until he got injured.

Rohan Ince is too old for the U21 squad. Both JFC & March have flown out to Toulon with the squad so should get more caps.

Zamora wasn't with us at the time. I think that is what was meant.
