Albion goalkeeper has untroubled first start for England under-19s

The Argus: Christian Walton Christian Walton

Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton enjoyed an untroubled first start for England under-19s as they took a step towards Euro qualification.

Noel Blake’s side thrashed Montenegro 6-0 at Walsall on Saturday helped by a hat-trick from Jordan Ibe of Liverpool.

A win over Scotland at Burton’s Pirelli Stadium tonight will edge them close to the finals in Hungary in July.

Walton got the nod to start ahead of Cameron Dawson of Sheffield Wednesday.

I think me may even end up our number 1 this season. It would keep costs down and he obviously has potential. Don't expect much investment this summer in the squad due to FFP so why not give him a go?

I agree. Well done to him on the clean sheet and good luck again tonight (if he plays).

Plaudits are great, but has this lad made any sort of appearance for the first team, indeed has anyone above actually seen him play. I'd be interested to know his strengths.
