Albion kick-off pre-season at Lewes

The Argus: David Livermore is pre-season action at Lewes when Albion visited in 2008. They return in July. David Livermore is pre-season action at Lewes when Albion visited in 2008. They return in July.

Albion’s new boss will make his debut in charge at Lewes.

The Seagulls take on their Ryman League neighbours in the opening friendly of pre-season on Saturday, July 5 (3pm).

Both senior and development squads are in Spain from July 9-18, with each team playing two matches in the La Manga region.

The first team then go to Crawley Town on Wednesday, July 23 (7.45pm) and Peterborough on Saturday, July 26 (3pm).

Home fans get the chance to see their side in action in the run-up to the first day of the league campaign, which is August 9.

That friendly at the Amex is likely to take place on Thursday, July 31, to avoid a clash with Pride on the weekend of August 2-3.

Details of the fixtures in Spain have yet to be announced.

I think if the Albion don't get their act together in a week manager/first team coach wise all the better ones will be snapped up, the board will bring more sub-standard players in as they seem good at doing and the new manager/first team coach will have his hands tied behind his back as the last two have been!

A lot of time is being wasted with very little except rumours to show for it. There's enough good managers out there, what are we waiting for? This next week a manager needs to be installed or as you rightly say, we will be scratching around come the start of the season again.

I wonder how many of these contributors wanted their child to arrive after seven months rather than nine, early arrivals often have difficulties.

If he is willing to accept the limitations of the job, there is no need to take a risk with an 'out of left field' appointment.
Talking of appointments, if you're not in a hurry for one, I have posted more about this subject on the 'Albion transfer talk' thread.

Vegas you cannot compare nature with necessity. A child takes 9 months to appear, we need a new manager, the quicker it's done the greater the chance of a good manager and the pick of the better players. Every day that passes the chances of the best managers and players diminishes that is what you don't seem to understand. There's a definite lack of urgency with the club and that is why there is concern, maybe in Vegas you're a bit insulated from it all but surely you would rather the club show some urgency so we don't miss out and hamper our promotion chances.

Sorry have to disagree
There are a number of candidates that need to be interviewed.
How many clubs out there are without managers?
Saints, WBA & Albion.
I would rather a delay of a week whilst TB selects the right candidate.
Most players are on holiday,
There is very little activity out there.
I believe the news is imminent so relax.
Next season will be a good one

Yes, no need to rush this.
We don't need anyone in place for a week or two, because the DOF will be identifying players for the squad, so the new man will not suddenly have to find a team. The best available players will go to wealthier, (or more reckless) clubs than ours, but there will be plenty of players who can do a job for us, and the longer we leave recruitment, the further the costs of employing them will be driven down.
Your comment that next season will be a good one is not very convincing, OldGull, because there is nothing to substantiate it, but I admire your optimism.
One thing is sure, - it is going to be interesting.
