Crawley have completed a double swoop by signing after bringing in defenders Lanre Oyebanjo and Ryan Dickson on two year deals.

Oyebanjo joins after being voted player of the season at York City last season while Dickson has come in from Colchester United.

Oyebanjo, 24, helped York reach the League Two play-offs last season and was named in the League Two team of the year but turned down a new contract at the end of the campaign.

The right-back said: “I’m delighted to be a Crawley player. It is a wrench to leave York because the club and fans were fantastic and I really enjoyed my time there.

“Crawley are an ambitious club and I’m looking forward to testing myself at League One level. I feel I can make a big impression here and I’m looking forward to the start of pre-season training in three weeks.”

The arrival of Dickson and Oyebanjo means boss John Gregory has now signed four players this summer as he rebuilds his squad following the departure of 15 players at the end of the season.

Dickson, 27, has played more than 200 first team games for the likes of Southampton, Yeovil, Brentford, Torquay, Plymouth, Leyton Orient and Bradford throughout his career.

The right-back suffered a serious illness shortly after joining Colchester on a one-year deal last season but recovered to finish the campaign strongly.

Dickson said: “I’m delighted to be at Crawley working for a highly-respected manager at an ambitious club.

“I know this league well and I definitely feel the club is capable of challenging for the play-offs next season. It’s a really exciting new challenge for me and I can’t wait for it to start.”

Gregory is delighted to have beaten off competition from a number of other clubs in League One to complete the double-signing.

Gregory said: “I was really impressed with Ryan when I saw him on a number of occasions last season. Several clubs at our level were keen to sign him but he’s excited about what we are trying to build at Crawley and I think he is going to be a very good addition to our squad.

“Lanre will be a terrific signing for us. He is a real athlete and an excellent defender. We have beaten off competition from a few clubs in our division to sign him and I’m delighted to have him here because he’s a player I have been keen to sign for a number of months now.”
