Mike Yardy is expected to be out for up to eight weeks after Sussex confirmed the all-rounder requires an operation on his injured bicep.
Sussex initially expected Yardy to be ruled out for a minimum of four weeks due to the injury sustained in the Twenty20 defeat at Glamorgan.
But further tests have shown the injury to be worse than first feared and will require surgery, with Sussex hoping he may be able to return towards the end of the season.
