Former Crawley Town midfielders Mike Jones and Dannie Bulman have ended any chance of returning to the Checkatrade.com Stadium by signing for other clubs.

Both players were offered new contracts at the end of last season but had them withdrawn ten days ago after failing to give boss John Gregory an answer.

Jones has penned a two-year deal with League One rivals Oldham Athletic while Bulman has joined League Two side AFC Wimbledon.

Bulman played more than 300 games for Crawley in three spells spanning seven years but felt it was time for a fresh start.

Bulman said: “It’s a bit strange leaving Crawley because I’ve been there for many years, but it was a move that I thought would be good for me. There was a contract offer made to me by John (Gregory) and the staff at Crawley but I felt it was time for me to move on. When I spoke to Neal (Ardley) it reassured me that I wanted to come here and play some good football.”

A significant cut in wages was the main factor in Jones moving on but he says the chance to play in central midfield was key to joining the Latics after playing the majority of his games under Gregory on the left.

Jones said: "I'm very excited about the prospect of what could be happening here next season. The manager (Lee Johnson) is very ambitious and I'm excited to get started.

“His enthusiasm to get me into the club was one of the reasons why I signed for the club. He sees me as a central player and he thinks he can improve my game so hopefully we can give it a good go next year and be up there.”
