Crawley insist Andy Drury is not for sale after rejecting a bid for the midfielder from his former club Luton Town.

Hatters boss John Still was keen to take the 30-year-old back to Kenilworth Road where he had a successful seven month spell before joining Ipswich for £150,000 in January 2011.

Luton are keen to strengthen their squad following promotion to League Two but Reds have made it clear Drury – who has a year left on his contract – is a big part of manager John Gregory’s plans.

The former Lewes midfielder played 46 games last season, scoring five goals and contributing ten assists, after joining from Ipswich on a free transfer.

Chief executive Michael Dunford said: “We have rejected Luton's approach because we have absolutely no wish to sell Andy. He is an integral part of John's plans for next season and a very important member of our squad."

Drury is one of only five members of last season’s squad remaining at the Checkatrade.com Stadium following a cost-cutting spree which saw 15 players leave.

Gregory has so far brought in Brian Jensen, Ryan Dickson, Lanre Oyebanjo and Jimmy Smith and is hopeful of making further signings in the next week.
