Johanna Konta is through to the second round of her home tournament at Eastbourne.
The British No. 3 beat 17-year-old Swiss prospect Belinda Bencic 6-3, 6-2 in the first round of the Aegon International.
It took Konta, the world No. 109, only 71 minutes to despatch Bencic, ranked 72 and the best junior player in the world last year, in front of a supportive crowd on court two.
Her second round opponent tomorrow is Camila Giorgi, who spoilt fourth seed Victoria Azarenka's comeback from three months out with a foot injury with a hard-fought 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win on centre court.
