Sussex slip to heavy defeat at Durham
Durham needed just 17 balls on the final morning to wrap up an emphatic victory against Sussex at Chester-le-Street.
Chris Rushworth dismissed Lewis Hatchett for four in the third over to bowl Sussex out for just 182 and complete a 309-run win for the defending champions.
There was enough time for James Tredwell to bring up his half century - from 60 balls - having resumed on 41 in the morning as he hit Rushworth for a couple of fours before taking a single.
That put Hatchett on strike and he was unable to continue the defiance he showed yesterday evening as he edged Rushworth to Gordon Muchall at third slip.
The result means Durham climb above Sussex into sixth place in division one of the Championship and if Lancashire complete victory as expected against Northamptonshire today they will be just two points above the relegation zone.
