Albion have kept three experienced members of their squad and sold a young fringe player.

Right-back rivals Bruno and Inigo Calderon and reserve keeper Casper Ankergren have signed new one-year deals.

They will all be part of the Sami Hyypia era but 21-year-old forward Brennan Dickenson has joined League One Gillingham for an undisclosed fee.

Thirtysomethings Bruno, Calderon and Ankergren completed the formalities yesterday of putting pen to paper on the contracts offered to them at the end of last season as the squad started pre-season training under Hyypia at their new HQ in Lancing. They have made 310 appearances between them for the club.

Hyypia said: “The experience is one thing and the other thing is their mentality. All three have a good mentality. They can help and influence a lot of our young players who are growing and can maybe one day take their positions.”

Dickenson has joined Gillingham on a two-year contract after failing to make a first team breakthrough during his two-and-a-half years with the Seagulls.

Signed from Dorchester in January 2012, the versatile striker had loans spells at Chesterfield, AFC Wimbledon and Northampton during his time at the Amex.
