Experience is vital as Albion trio sign new deals

The Argus: Inigo Calderon has signed a new one-year deal along with Bruno and Casper Ankergren Inigo Calderon has signed a new one-year deal along with Bruno and Casper Ankergren

Albion have kept three experienced members of their squad and sold a young fringe player.

Right-back rivals Bruno and Inigo Calderon and reserve keeper Casper Ankergren have signed new one-year deals.

They will all be part of the Sami Hyypia era but 21-year-old forward Brennan Dickenson has joined League One Gillingham for an undisclosed fee.

Thirtysomethings Bruno, Calderon and Ankergren completed the formalities yesterday of putting pen to paper on the contracts offered to them at the end of last season as the squad started pre-season training under Hyypia at their new HQ in Lancing. They have made 310 appearances between them for the club.

Hyypia said: “The experience is one thing and the other thing is their mentality. All three have a good mentality. They can help and influence a lot of our young players who are growing and can maybe one day take their positions.”

Dickenson has joined Gillingham on a two-year contract after failing to make a first team breakthrough during his two-and-a-half years with the Seagulls.

Signed from Dorchester in January 2012, the versatile striker had loans spells at Chesterfield, AFC Wimbledon and Northampton during his time at the Amex.

Another year is fair, still disappointed that Orlandi has gone, a good pre season and I'm sure he would have been excellent for us.

Having Orlandi in the side is like playing with 10 men.

No real news here, shouldn't the new kit have been released by now? I'm concerned in case it's not up to scratch and it has to be sent back. Other clubs have already got theirs.

What is it about the UK that players have to go to France, Germany and other countries for medical treatment. We have this incredible new medical centre at the new training facility, supposedly top six figure salary medical chief with a host of back up staff. Yet still we have to send Dale Stephens to another country for treatment.

These are the questions our owners and FA ought to be asking when you consider what abject failures our national teams have been for so many years.

Exactly. We've spent 30 million on it but I do wonder why we need it when players are sent elsewhere for treatment and the training is unlikely to be much different to what happened before.

Perhaps Bloom is having a Vincent Tan moment and has changed our colours to all red or something to make the club more 'marketable'. I didn't like last seasons shirt, stripes too thick and the yellow just didn't work. Really the new one should have been released by now, all the money that isn't being made by merchandise means even less to spend on players.

Blimey take a chill pill peeps. We may have a top fitness and physio centre at Lancing but let's be honest it's unlikely we have the world's top specialists/consulta
nts in all areas of the body on the payroll so it is very likely players need to be sent away for most if not all specialist work.

Sold one fringe player and re-sighned three fringe players,we really are moving on the team strengthening position.None of this is Sami s fault so lets see how he goes.I dont think he will hold back on his opinions and demands so it could get exciting how he stands up to the Blues Bros FFP society. Just do what the other promoted clubs have done (leicester and QPR) and ignore the FFP,just get players who will get us promoted.I know all you wingers will say but but but,but there is no punishment for breaking the rules, just promotion and millions in the kitty.

Bruno and Calde can't BOTH be fringe players as one of them will always be playing with the other on the bench.

On a side-issue - there seem to be more trolls and particularly WUMs on this site with every passing week. Shame.

Yeah he might be. With all the changes that have happened to the club over the past few years. A new style kit wouldn't surprise me one bit. Maybe white and blue stripes instead of blue and white. Would expect to see it tomorrow hopefully.

I expect some thumbs down-but hey ho--I believe Orlandi IS a good player, but expensive. We cannot afford to bring players in with high wage demands but we had a player in Orlandi who we had to pay his wages but only played half the season, same with Will Buckley. Works out very expensive. We need players with a good track record of not getting constantly injured. No guarantees but BHA do seem to have more than their fair share of crocks. Orlandi --good bloke-gone so do not go back on decisions made.
