Albion stalwart Inigo Calderon had no hesitation signing up for another battle with fellow Spaniard Bruno.
The right-back rivals have both penned new one-year deals, along with reserve goalkeeper Casper Ankergren.
Calderon, 32, has played second fiddle to Bruno for the past two seasons but is happy to be part of the Sami Hyypia era after a visit to the World Cup in Brazil.
He said: “Brighton is the place I want to be. It has only been a matter of time, because I agreed everything earlier in the close season, but I was not here to sign.
“It was all very straightforward after the club said that they wanted me for one more year. That’s been great for me. I was able to enjoy my time off, because it can be quite complicated if you are without a club.
“I am very excited now because we have been doing really well in the last few seasons so we want try to do a bit more to get into the play-offs or even go straight up into the Premier League.
“With the new manager and training ground, I am really looking forward to the new season.”
Bruno is relishing competition again from Calderon to be part of Hyypia’s defence.
“I was really happy for Calde and he’s a really important player for us,” Bruno said. “We have a good relationship but what is more important for us is the team. When you want the best for the team everything is easier.”
Calderon’s World Cup trip included tickets for Spain’s game against Chile, supplied by former Albion team-mate Gonzalo Jara.
He said: “They were with the Chile fans and that was a brilliant experience. I felt for him when he missed the penalty against Brazil but he can be proud as he had a brilliant tournament.”
