Crawley boss John Gregory has confirmed he has missed out on a move to sign former Arsenal and Charlton player Cedric Evina.

The Frenchman, who was available on a free transfer, looked set to join the Reds earlier in the week.

However, Evina has now signed for fellow League One side Doncaster Rovers.

Gregory said: “They offered him a very good salary which we couldn’t match.

“I could have signed him on Tuesday and it would have been job done but I left it a week and maybe it was supposed to happen. I’m a great believer in fate.”
