Keith Andrews could be returning to the Amex – with Albion’s opening day opponents.

The Seagulls’ former loan midfielder is on course for a move to Sheffield Wednesday, the visitors for the first Championship game of the 2014-15 campaign on August 9.

Andrews is negotiating a severance package with parent club Bolton Wanderers for the year remaining on his contract.

Huddersfield are keen to sign him but cannot match his wages. The Argus understands Sheffield Wednesday have now emerged as the favourites to complete a deal for the 33-year-old.

Andrews made 37 appearances for Albion last season on loan from Wanderers when Oscar Garcia was head coach.

The Seagulls are not thought to be interested in re-signing Andrews under Oscar’s successor Sami Hyypia.

They are also set to face former transfer target Keiren Westwood when Sheffield visit next month.

Westwood, one of the goalkeepers on Albion’s list of potential replacements for Tomasz Kuszczak, joined Wednesday on a two-year deal last week after Sunderland released the Irishman at the end of last season.

Trialists Danny Pappoe, George Cole and Ibou Touray get a further opportunity to impress in Albion’s development team against Spanish third tier outfit Cartagena at La Manga tonight.

Central defender Pappoe and attacking midfielder Cole are from Chelsea, left-back Touray from Everton.
