Sussex’s lower order frustrated Warwickshire on the second morning of their Championship clash at Horsham.

The Bears began the day hoping to bowl Sussex out quickly after taking four quick wickets the previous evening to leave them on 314-7.

But Ben Brown and James Tredwell put on 71 for the eighth wicket to swing the momentum of the game very much back in Sussex’s favour.

Tredwell was eventually out for 33 but Steve Magoffin joined Brown to guide Sussex to 407-8 at lunch.

Sussex also picked up a fourth batting point as they reached 350 with one ball to spare before the 110 over cut-off.

Once that target had been reached Tredwell then hit Boyd Rankin for three consecutive fours before he edged Jeetan Patel to the wicketkeeper.

Brown has been largely untroubled and will resume on 48 after lunch with Magoffin on eight.
