Albion fans will have to wait for their first look at new signing Chris O'Grady.

The former Barnsley striker is watching tonight's friendly at Crawley from the sidelines.

Toko and Dunk picked up minor injuries in Spain.

Probably just being rested as we don't want any more injuries before the start in 2 and a half weeks time. Sensible with so few players in the squad.

It probably doesn't really matter but with only a couple more practice matches to go it does seem slightly bizarre that none of our new players are involved in this game.

Any sign of the additional signings that were strongly hinted at for this week?

Honestly - no. We have so few fit players and with no sign of anyone else arriving any time soon, I'd protect the few we have by not taking too many risks. What happens if he or CMS as our only recognised front players pick up a serious injury in the next 2 weeks? Then people will moan when Fenelon is starting games at the beginning of the season.

I'm sorry but I don't buy into the theory that they're being rested because of the fear of injury.

If anything these guys need to be playing more games so they can integrate in to the way we play.
With Sami also making tweaks to how we set up then surely every player that's fit should get as much time on the pitch as possible.

With the SW game fast approaching Sami is going to have to settle the team he thinks is best soon. He will want to give what he perceives to be his best team as much time playing together as possible.

I think it's fair to say that the squad is looking incredibly thin. Let's hope that the Management teams decision to release or sell so many players from January isn't going to come back and bite us.
I'm aware that there is time left in the transfer window but imho time is not on our side. Surely players should get here ASAP so we can prepare with our full squad.

Quite right Alan.

Anything less than a three goal defeat will be an achievement with this team.

The only positive is Ankers aint in goal.

We are very poor with our corners. Crawley have defended about 6 corners very easily. Whereas we have conceded from one and another header just sailed over the bar. We gotta do better.

To put into perspective how short our squad is, we are down 14 match day players from January. We all know we have brought in 3.

We have struggled in recent times to close the deal. I know we won't bring in the 11 we are down but are we really going to get 5 or 6 top quality signings in the new 2 weeks? I hope so.

Solly went off after 19 minutes which could leave us even more short. It's difficult to see any positives from the first half. If I try I could say that JFC has done alright.

I think the spending maybe over, mate.

We are concentrating on having 12 world class players instead of having 26 average ones.

I'm sure that some of the better players will be feeling as deflated as some of us feel right now at the departures leaving our club.

Last season was a breakthrough year for some of our younger players... Why? Oscar? Possibly... Personal development? Probably but let's not forget that there was another reason too. They were not competing for a spot against the likes of Vicente, Bridcutt and Hammond.

Brighton always but feeling pretty down about where our club is heading right now
