Sussex have confirmed that Rory Hamilton-Brown and James Anyon will both require surgery at the end of the summer.

The pair will miss Sussex’s final game in the NatWest T20 Blast at Essex tonight due to injury problems which have blighted their seasons.

Hamilton-Brown had an exploratory operation on his wrist this week to find out the extent of the damage and will be sidelined for at least the next three weeks.

Sussex hope the former Surrey skipper will be able to return for the end of the campaign but will need further surgery in the winter.

Anyon broke down on his return from an ankle problem in the second team two weeks ago. The seamer will be out for the next three weeks and will also need surgery at the end of the season.

Yasir Arafat could return at Chelmsford tonight after recovering from a groin problem but skipper Ed Joyce and Steve Magoffin will definitely not play while Chris Jordan is unavailable after linking up with the England squad.

Coach Mark Robinson has also hinted he may use the game to give some players experience with Sussex unable to qualify from the south division while leaders Essex are already guaranteed a home quarter-final.
