Crawley boss John Gregory has revealed summer signing Matt Harrold has undergone a minor knee operation.

Gregory expects the former Bristol Rovers striker to be back in training “within a week to ten days”.

However, the opening game of the League One campaign away to Barnsley may come too soon for the big marksman.

Gregory, meanwhile, has hinted Collins John is unlikely to get a deal at Crawley.

The former Fulham and Netherlands striker did not play in the 3-3 draw away to Eastleigh today, having scored as a trialist in the 1-1 draw with Albion in midweek.

Gregory says talks will continue with the player’s agent and a decision will be made after the weekend.

The Reds boss said: “He has gone home to Amsterdam this weekend. I think he has got one or two domestic issues to deal with.

“I am speaking to his agent over the weekend and I will make a decision on what we are doing probably on Monday.

“At the moment we are not likely to make a signing.”
