Albion will wear orange and black tonight

First published in Sport by

Fans will see Albion as they have never seen them before at the Amex tonight.

The Seagulls will wear their new orange and black strip when play Southampton in the only home friendly of pre-season.

Albion’s new third-choice kit, worn here by Bruno, is not yet available to buy.

But it caused a bit of a stir among fans when it was revealed recently.

The Seagulls have switched as Southampton wear a new blue and yellow away kit.

Tonight’s game is Albion’s final dress rehearsal for the Championship opener against Sheffield Wednesday a week on Saturday – when the Seagulls rather than Owls will be in blue and white stripes!

So we play in the third kit? Why did saints not wear there home kit for a friendly? I might be way off the mark, but are both clubs pushing there merchandise? I no doubt sense a release date for kit 3 ... Once we have had the " rush" for new home and away.
That's not a criticism of either club, just the norm nowadays .

Totally agree MBTS.
It might be a cynical view but clubs need to maximise income and this is just another way.
Personally don't see the need for a third kit and we'll probably only see it on the rare occasion. It's just another income stream albeit a novelty one. UTA

Personally, I think it's looks awful; nothing compares to the blue and white. Saints have been devastated by high calibre player losses, and I wish them well for the season.

The 3rd kit will only really be needed when we play a red & white, black & blue, red & blue or black & white team away. Brentford and possibly Fulham as far as I can see. However, if they make the decision to always wear an away kit for away games, even if the blue & white stripes don't clash, we will see it quite a lot as there a lot of red teams in the division.

I quite like it as a kit to be worn on the pitch but not for walking down Western Road on a Monday afternoon. Unless you are there to litter pick!

Great so now we'll look like a Railtrack work gang, except even less efficient at getting the job done on time. Should be an interesting contest tonight to see who has got the least players, could go either way, although I think their supporters are in even more of an uproar than ours over the lack of spending with all the money they've brought in. Maybe they're on the verge of another administration with the fire sale of players. Although they managed to lure Sammy Lee away from us after 1 day, so they must still have some ambition left.

Morning, the orange shirt is for away evening games when the the home team where blue, the orange shows up better under floodlights than the red and black, this evening is a chance for the players to get familiar with it in playing conditions.

I see the club have a meet the players day tomorrow, reading the website it seems anyone going has to purchase or have purchased something from the shop during July. Seems no opportunity to take money is missed, the norm these days, just a shame for kids or mums who cannot afford high prices these days.

Yes, that's exactly what we are doing (both teams). Take your sunglasses if you are coming tonight, Mark....our kit looks a bit bright!

Noble initiative by the club tomorrow for the school holiday. Totally free family activity on the concourse outside the Amex store, including magicians, go-karts and football games and only £1.99 for a seagulls pen if they want to get in the queue to meet some players and Sami. The future may not be Orange but It’s definitely kids .

Not quite, but I am hugely disappointed by what's gone on this summer, or what hasn't gone on to be more precise. And these shirts which are quite frankly cheap and nasty looking just add insult to injury.

£1.99 for a pen? Does that include a free shirt?

Actually if we played in it every week that would be ok. I've never liked the stripes! (My first Albion game was 1965 when we wore an 'Arsenal' style kit but in blue. Now that ws a proper Albion shirt!)

Great advert for Tango, and yes, it's only a shirt - but such an ugly looking one! I hope we don't keep passing to Orlandi by mistake in a few weeks time.
