Albion target Adam Clayton's proposed move to Middlesbrough from Huddersfield has yet to be finalised.
Huddersfield manager Mark Robins says Clayton will train with the Terriers today and is expected to be available for their opening game against Bournemouth.
The midfielder was expected to sign for Boro on Tuesday afternoon after a fee rising to a potential £2 million and personal terms had reportedly been agreed.
Clayton's move is thought to hinge on Huddersfield's bid to bring in a replacement and Boro's Jacob Butterfield has been mulling over a potential switch to Yorkshire.
Clayton has been a target for Albion since January, when they had a £1 million bid rejected. They stepped up their interest following the recent £8 million sale of Leo Ulloa to Leicester.
