Whitehawk lost 2-1 at home to Staines Town. They trailed 2-0 after 32 minutes to two goals from Louie Theophanous, the first a penalty.

Sam Deering halved the arrears early in the second half but Hawks – with a host of new signings – could not force an equaliser.

Peacehaven marked their Ryman premier debut with a 2-2 draw at Leatherhead thanks to goals from Josh Jones and Jamie Brotherton.

In Ryman south, promoted East Grinstead drew 1-1 at Redhill thanks to a late leveller from Dan Turner.

But Worthing lost 2-1 at Faversham after taking an early lead through debutant Trevor McCreadie’s penalty and Horsham lost 2-0 to South Park. Nigel Brake scored as Three Bridges drew 1-1 with Folkestone Invicta.
