Albion trialist Paddy McCourt's hopes of securing a deal have been hit by injury.

The 30-year-old former Barnsley playmaker has been training with the Seagulls this week.

He watched Tuesday night's Capital One Cup win against Cheltenham at the Amex, then featured in a friendly for the under 21s at Southend the following day.

McCourt's involvement in the match was curtailed and he does not have much time left to prove he is worth taking on.

Boss Sami Hyypia told The Argus: "He's going to be here a few more days and then we will make a decision.

"He played (at Southend) but unfortunately he twisted his ankle a little bit, so he didn't play as much as I would have wanted."

Shame....I watched some video of him at Celtic, scored some stunning goals, reminded me of Vicente on the ball. But.......there had to be a reason he's without a club - attitude, injuries? Can't see us taking him.

To be fair to the club on this one, the quote from SH doesn't exactly seem to substantiate the headline?
This one feels like The Argus ramping up the negativity. I'm afraid to say I don't blame them when you consider the bigger picture, but I'm not convinced this is a significant development?

Perhaps we should hire in Harry Redknapp as a transfer deadline day specialist consultant. That would have players queuing at the gate to sign on.

Yes they need to with a circulation down to 15,000 and probably 90% of online comments coming from Albion postings . I see they got censored for giving out false figures to potential advertisers.

Slightly bad news but let's just sign him up for a year. Give him a go - he could be brilliant! - and if he isn't then at least he should be a backup to Crofts and Stephens and probably a better playmaker than JFC and Agustien combined.

There's no probably out about it my friend. This guy on his day is unplayable.

I'm really surprised that more people aren't excited about this potential signature.
Imho only, I think he could potentially be the signing of the season.

Of course he's injured! Why would it be anything else?!!!

Heaven forbid we get some who:
A) wants to come here
B) is fit
C) we can afford
D) has any talent or experience

Right now it feels like we couldn't sign a subbuetto set never mind a championship player.

It never rains.....

Can't believe Brentford have signed Jose Ramallo from Celta Vigo. My best friend lives and works in the Lavaores region of Spain and text me this morning saying this player would be a great addition to the Championship. Left footed goal scoring midfielder apparently. I've been to Balaidos a few times and they have a great set up with a similar sized stadium to ours. Would have been good to have gone for him to replace Buckley. Hopefully there must be some good news in the pipeline?

Maybe I answered my own question. If Naylor's tweet is true :

Various quotes found :
Teixeira is an exceedingly gifted player from Portugal who can perform a number of roles across the midfield. Most comfortable on the left side, he can also function through the middle and in a defensive midfield position.

He joined his hometown club Braga aged 10 before moving on to Sporting Lisbon a year later. Teixeira progressed through Sporting's youth ranks and was on the verge of the first team in 2011.

Teixeira is usually more composed when in a shooting position - he is reliable with both feet - but that will improve with more first-team experience.

Teixeira has been variously compared to Deco, Philippe Coutinho and his personal hero Kaka since arriving at Liverpool.
It's the latter that is most flattering for the player. In his own words: 'I'm an attacking midfielder - an eight or 10. I really liked Kaka when he was at AC Milan - I always followed him, he's my model.'

He's had back problems in the past but still might be an exciting addition if he stays ft.

So why is no one else trying to sign him or give him a trial, if he's come to us he's either desperate or thinks we are mugs (that's a possibility) having said that if he costs us just pay n play money could be better than Vicente or Buckley?

It does feel like that doesn't it. We are nailed on to get a player then they turn us down at the last minute. We finally get a player on trial and then they get injured. That McCourt does like a good player when things go right. I hope we hang on to him, because I could see him working well with CMS with those direct runs in to the box. That what CMS needs, the ball at his feet in the penalty area. At least we have that player from Liverpool. Let's keep our fingers crossed McCourt gets fit and the club doesn't get rid, because you just never what could be. He isn't a **** player by any means looking at the YouTube videos of him.
