Talking point: So NOW how are you feeling about this season?

Albion have their first points and goals of the season.

Just like last year, they scored their first win at the third attempt.

For the fourth successive campaign, they won their second away fixture of the season.

And, for the third time in their last four visits, they beat Leeds at Elland Road.

It feels like the season has finally taken off tonight.

So how are you feeling about things now?

Have the Seagulls hit upon a formula to take them up the table after a poor start?

How bright do Joao Teixeira and Danny Holla look in that midfield?

Do you still have reservations about this season?

And can Albion play at home the same way as they did to perfection on the road tonight?

There is still plenty of talk about. But this time it’s a lot more enjoyable after tonight’s events in West Yorkshire.

So give us your thoughts.

it will still come down to who we manage to sign before the 1st September.

Good Keeper signed and Holla looks a good find along with the Portuguese lad from Liverpool. The other signings are underwhelming.

Hopefully we will make a couple of big signings before the 1st.

It is disappointing that we did not do that much business early on which has cost us 6 points against two poor teams and put the club under pressure to make some significant signings late on.

A lot better, I can tell you, after tonight's result and performance. Pleased that the new boys made such a major contribution and relieved that we're off the mark. But (and there's always a but!) it doesn't excuse some of the things that have – or rather haven't – happened since Sami's arrival. Need to follow this up with a home win on Saturday.

Interesting read...Re: Leeds United v Brighton
by Sheepy » 41 minutes ago

Just got back, very poor performance, lacklustre and clueless are two words I really did not want to use tonight. As much as I am willing to give Hockaday a fair chance, and I still am, he got the tactics terribly wrong tonight. We had no width or pace at all, having Smith upfront just meant our only attacking outlet was a chip over the top. The Brighton defence just lapped it up and played the ball out everytime.

They gave us a footballing lesson, pass and move, simple as that, playing in triangles, moving into space, closing us down when we had the ball, giving us no space or time on the ball and then collecting the loose balls up. It looked impressive, but we contributed to that by GIVING them too much space and time on the ball. We were simply lethargic.

Second half was slightly better, Ajose gave us an extra option and a bit of pace and he pulled Brighton out a bit. We worked the ball a bit more and moved it about better but ultimately we just had no cutting edge.

We never once managed to whip in a first time cross, Byram could only check back inside and by that time Brighton had re-grouped. For all the ball player Tonge is, he is too slow, Byram and Tonge for me could not link up with any purpose, every ball seemed behind the man and every time any fluidity we had was halted and the ball went back into midfield and then switched to the left.

It was frustrating, we could do better.

Why was Sharp taken off? Seemed a bizarre move as he is a player capable of creating something from nothing, and tonight we had a lot of nothing.

Onwards to Watford and if Hockadays post match assessment is anything to go by, I would hope tonights failures are addressed.

Yes sorry to say you did look very poor tonight which is a shame because i think you have some of the best fans in the country.I thought Teixeira and Holla looked outstanding for Brighton tonight and in the first half had full control of the game.I hate to admit Dunk did nothing wrong but like you point out he and his team mates will never have a more easy game in their lifes.Boy Leeds looked poor and could be bang in trouble from this. For the Brighton fans Teixeira & Holla look top class but i still feel we will need a top class LB and forward still if we are gona make top six again.

Well, Hyppia seemed much more engaged and energised, his team played with flair, courage and panache rather than like a bunch of lost souls, so it's a whole lot easier to feel upbeat as a result. If the momentum can be maintained the season might just surprise a few of us. Right now I feel good.

Tend to agree about needing 2 forwards. I know it's early days but not sure COG is quite what we need. Maybe Baldock and a replacement for Leo. Left back still required but I am pleased that Chicksen has had a few games which will undoubtedly do him good and by all accounts he had a good game last night. Things starting to turn hopefully. Well done lads last night. Leeds might not be the force of old but Elland Road is never an easy place to go. Onwards and upwards.

I listened to the game on the radio last night and to be honest, after watching the Cheltenham game, had to check the radio channel to make sure I was listening to the right game! What can I say..really pleased with not just the result but also the way we played. It sounded pretty stylish as well...
Sami is building his own team and clearly with the 3 new signings in the last 4 days there IS a plan...thank god!!
I have been worried, what with players leaving and then hearing rumours about Solly, Kaz and CMS also being touted - there seemed to be no reassurance to the fans as to where the replacements were coming from......and therein lies the issue....LACK OF PROGRESSIVE COMMUNICATION TO THE FANS...Most fans are TRUE fans and care about the Albion passionately. They invest in the club through season tickets, club shop, match day purchases, hospitality etc etc ..So surely we deserve a bit more than silence from the boardroom when things like a perceived lack of transfer activity are being questioned!!!
Anyway - fabulous result last night and I sincerely hope the start of our season proper...UTA

The one major difference from last nights performance to our 1st 3 games was we played as a unit rather than 11 individuals, like others still believe we require a proven goal scorer & a left back, although Chicksen played well. Leeds however were a shambles & will need to improve to avoid what will otherwise be a very difficult season for them.

Six points lost at the start which should have been wins, when it comes to the final push it could be those six points that cost us badly, one good game isn't the answer it sustaining it , hopefully a bit more activity in incoming players will help . A striker with a good record will certainly be good, why did they leave it so late to bring in people. But overall a great result lets hope it continues to get better.
