Irish club Cork City have accepted an offer from an un-named club for full-back Brian Lenihan.

Albion and a host of Premier League clubs, headed by Hull and Crystal Palace, have been linked with the 20-year-old, regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the League of Ireland.

The bid accepted by Cork is believed to be from the Seagulls for around £200,000, according to reports.

A statement released by Cork on their official website this morning said: "Cork City Football Club can confirm that the club has received an offer for our player, Brian Lenihan, which has been accepted.

"The club will not be making any further comment on the matter at this time, and the focus of our management and players is fully on Friday night’s FAI Ford Cup tie against Bohemians at Turner’s Cross."

Lenihan is expected to make his farewell appearance against Bohemians.

The versatile youngster can play at right-back or in midfield.

Albion are currently well covered in both positions in the first team by Spanish veterans Bruno and Inigo Calderon, so Lenihan would begin life at the Amex in the development squad.
