Joao Teixeira scored the winner on his home debut as Albion beat Bolton today.

The Seagulls came from behind for a 2-1 success with Craig Mackail-Smith netting for the second successive game at the Amex.

They richly deserved their win after playing some attractive football, notably in the first half.

Matt Mills’ opener on 25 minutes for Wanderers, as he headed in a flighted free-kick, came against the run of play.

Mackail-Smith forced the Seagulls level from close range 12 minutes later as he latched on to a low cross from Inigo Calderon after one of several good moves down the right involving Bruno.

Wanderers goalkeeper Adam Bogdan, who had earlier tipped a Mackail-Smith shot on to the bar was injured in trying to prevent the goal and had to be replaced.

His substitute Andy Lonergan was arguably at fault as Teixeira switched the ball inside on to his right foot and drilled a low shot through the keeper’s legs from close range on 64 minutes for what proved to be the winner.
