Former Albion boss Oscar Garcia is cutting short his second spell at Maccabi Tel Aviv, less than three months after rejoining the Israeli giants.

He is terminating his contract for personal reasons, with Israel locked in continuing conflict with Hamas in Gaza and rockets being fired at Tel Aviv.

Oscar, who quit Albion in May after guiding them to the Championship play-offs, ended his first stint at Maccabi amid concerns for his family's safety.

His family left Tel Aviv to return to Spain a few days ago but he stayed to give the club time to appoint a successor.

Maccabi are expected to announce Pako Ayestaran, former No.2 to Rafael Benitez at Liverpool, as Oscar's replacement at a press conference today.

Oscar's hopes of steering Maccabi into the group stage of the Champions League were recently wrecked by Maribor and they need to overturn a two-goal deficit against Greek outfit Asteras Tripoli on Thursday to reach the Europa League group stage.

The availability of the Seagulls' head coach last season could alert troubled Championship rivals Fulham and Leeds.

Was there not a conflict when he went back there? Or has he just bottled it because they are struggling to get into Europe?

to be fair, i don't think i would want to have rockets going over my head.

Did a good job under difficult circumstances with the Albion and conducted himself impeccably in his time here. Deserves our respect and wouldn't be surprised if he didn't surface at Leeds or Fulham or a few other clubs. He's got to be a good prospect for a return to our shores IMO.

Agree. Think he did a great job with all the injuries we had in the team last year.

I've heard the TK rumours too. There was that odd period towards the end of last season where TK was left out of the team. But rumours are just rumours. Silly for going to Israel (with their current human rights record and yes the bombing had started when he went over there) in the first place in my op. Good enough to ply his trade in England or Spain.

If spending money we havn't got is ambitious I hope the lack of ambition remains. Remember Peter Ridsdale, Leeds still havn't recovered.

Oscar did a good job with the resources available last season especially when we had a ridiculous amount of injuries in thefirst half of the season, but was he partly responsible for that lack of resources?

There have been stories of him not engaging with the transfer dealings, not being contactable on deadline day, and generally being slow to give the go-ahead to sign new players (or re-sign players keen to come back such as Conway). And now he has gone, suddenly new players are flowing into the squad again.

It could all be rumours about tk, but it's a little odd that he still hasn't found a club, considering he's a reasonably good goalkeeper.
