Adrian Colunga starts tonight

First published in Sport by

Albion have handed Adrian Colunga a debut as they ring the changes in the Capital One Cup.

The Seagulls have received international clearance for their recent signing from Getafe.

He starts in the second round tie at Swindon tonight in support of the returning Chris O’Grady.

Albion make seven changes to the side which kicked off the win at Bolton on Saturday.

Casper Ankergren returns in goal at the ground where he made his Albion debut four years ago.

Latest signing Gary Gardner is among the subs after completing his loan switch from Aston Villa.

Albion: Ankergren; Calderon, Hughes, Dunk, Chicksen; Ince, Forster-Caskey, Crofts; LuaLua, Colunga, O’Grady. Subs: Stockdale, Maksimenko, Bennett, Toko, Teixeira, Gardner, McCourt.

Good enough to win without a doubt. I wonder if Walton is injured, I think we should certainly be playing him if resting Stockdale but yet Stockdale is on the bench. There again equally surprised that Toko and McCourt aren't starting. I guess that with an international break coming up we just want to keep the winning mentality going.

Yep, would have at least involved Walton on the bench. Interesting that Toko still doesn't get a start - not looking good for him so soon after signing (three year contract I think?) - with Gardner now being signed and Stephens still to come back, difficult to see how he has going to be involved in too many future squads. A decent side with options to bring off the bench. Be good to keep the momentum going.

I am not understanding why some think that we, 'should,' be playing Walton, he is currently our third choice keeper, Ankergren is our number two choice. It might be that some think Walton's status should be elevated but as things stand right now that is not the case. Whether Walton's status is correct is entirely up to Hyypia.

Because we have a young keeper with huge potential who if the press were correct could have had his head turned by premiership clubs in the summer. He is part of the future, a valuable asset and one that I would have liked to see being given a chance to gain experience at this level. As you say though it's the managers choice and he will know when Walton is ready.

Hi Vegas, Walton's status is entirely up to Hyypia... these threads give us the opportunity to say what we think. As you will have noticed not everyone tows the party line and certain people have constructive criticisms to offer (I am not talking of trolls with nothing better to do than stir up trouble). I for one believe that Chris Walton should be given the chance to play in the occasional match where pressure ought to be less than in the usual league game. Of course I tend to be gullible and I did give credence to the pre-season rumours that the youngster was the next Gordon Banks, sought after by every big PL club in the country. I now think those rumours were probably fuelled by an over-zealous father trying to get the best deal for his son but the reality is that Walton is a better long term prospect than Ankergren and as a result he should get the opportunity. Voilà, Vegas, my own humble opinion offered in good faith but knowing that Sami doesn't share the same.
Let's all hope for a great result tonight and a good draw for the next round... UTA !!!

Rackhamlouis Walton was named in the DS today who lost to Middlesbrough 2-1.. I think that Toko and McCourt are still getting back up to full match fitness since neither of them had a proper pre-season. Hope that info helps.

If you have seen both keepers play you would know Walton is the far better keeper just an age thing he Walton should look to his future else where
