Albion had SIX bids rejected by Bristol City for Sam Baldock before their persistence finally paid off.

Baldock finally joined the Seagulls on Wednesday on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

City’s chief executive John Pelling told the Bristol Post: “Sam was in the last year of his contract and Brighton started showing an interest in signing him in early July.

“We rejected six offers from them having entered this transfer window with the intention of keeping Sam.

“During the window we have got on with recruiting seven players to strengthen our first team squad.

“Brighton’s persistence has finally seen them come up with an offer which suited both the club and Sam.”

He as many of the other new faces looks to be a very good signing. We seem to have plenty of movement and mobility which will play havoc with markers. Which in turn should at some point create space for goals. I cant remember the last time we had a midfield which has potential to score a lot of goals? wonderful. After having my moments of panic 3 weeks ago i am now well pleased with our dealings. Roll on a good season with plenty of g

On another thought sami seems to of had a hell of a lot of influence in buying and he seems to have gus' ability to talk the club up great times ahead me thinks

Gutted to be missing the game tomorrow, will be very interesting to see the starting eleven, the bench should be very strong too. With Lua Lua and March unavailable will he go with Baldock,Colunga and Macca to run Charlton ragged, or two of the three with the full backs pushing on as in previous games? Nice problem for Sammi to have, be interesting to see the gate tomorrow 26/27 k hopefully to watch a 3.1. Win :-)

We reportedly opened up with an offer of £400K and finished by paying £1m plus a potential £500K in add.ons which in fairness is about the going rate for the player (Bristol bought him for £1.1m and he was top goalscorer in League 1 last season). He is a goal poacher not a target man so how we deliver the ball into the box will be key but first he needs to get on the pitch and with CMS looking happy and on form he is surely not a certain starter. However the thought of them on the pitch together at some point in games with the quality of Colunga and Teixeira in support should have fans salivating. Not going to be many 0-0's this season !

Just back after couple of weeks away! We have been busy, all in all some excellent signings and loans,
The signing of Baldock has to work, he really has to score 20 this season,
When he played for West Ham I thought he was going to go on and play in the premiership for some time.
I also think we have signed players of the right age, the shelf life for the vast majority of the new lads is 3-4 years,
Of the loans ,the Liverpool lad looks capable of quality, Gardner another who can produce a pass to create.
The jones promotion has been nicely timed which won't cause any comments, however he is clearly manager in waiting.
I heard while away Garcia is heading to Leeds, and yesterday they sack the manager .
I think we need another central defender as cover, but the squad is deep in competition for places which can only be good.

We've shown the same commitment as Leicester did for Ulloa. Good feelings now even with a strong subs bench. Strenght in depth and a manager that plays good football. Hopefully this will be a season to remember for the right reason. UTA!!

What an absolute waste of money for a third division player. He's already proved he's not good enough for the premier league at West Ham yet still we pay way over the odds.

Morning Mark your right the club have made some quality signings, our squad is capable off giving anyone a good game in this league, the best thing is no guaranteed starters if there not performing,

One off the best signings for me is Paul Winstanley to work alongside Burke to help bring future players in to the club,

Your right about Garcia Mark being linked with Leeds but to me why would anybody want to go there working under that clown, he would last until Christmas guaranteed, there's a job six miles along the road at hud town which would be better,
Up the Albion!!

Tomorrows team
Stockdale
Bruno, Greer, Dunk, Bennet
Mccourt Holla, Crofts
Colunga Baldock Teixeira

No room for Hughes, Ogrady or Toko

Great signing and hopefully worth the wait. I was one of those who were really worried about the strength and quality of the team 2 weeks ago, but now looking forward to this season.
However, with so many new signings in such a short space of time, lets not expect too much too soon. We need patience as they start to gel together.
Its a shame we could not have secured more of these signings prior to the start of the season as we may regret those 6 points dropped come May.

I don't mind at all if Baldock scores less than that, if he's providing assists, creating chaos with his movement, and we are playing attacking winning football with plenty of goals.

Teixeira - he's not just capable of quality, he's been providing it from the moment he touched a ball for us. The opposite from the doom-mongers who told us he'd flop because they said he did for Brentford this time last year.

Would you mind not quoting me for your daily hit of "look at me"
I despise trolls.
Me too. Probably best if we just ignore in future.

The trouble is .... the Mayfield Bleater is the new troll on the block and determined to become the most despised.
I think he's fulfilling that ambition (sad as it is) quite well.
May be Arnie could engage him in some serious football debate - somehow I doubt it!

One of his postings was reprinted in today's Argus so he has some credibility. The posting about our new strikers needing a step ladder as TB being short himself, favours small strikers

Wish people would stop going on about 6 points dropped because we didn't sign these players before the season started. Everyone knows how this works unfortunately the window shuts at the end of August. Securing the same players earlier, assuming they would even have been available, would no doubt have cost more so with a limited budget it would not have been possible to sign all the players we now have. Over the season that would more than likely cost us more than the six points we have supposedly thrown away. Yes the window should shut before the season starts but please stop this six points nonsense on every thread.
