Albion striker Shamir Fenelon has been loaned out to League One Rochdale for the rest of the season.

The Seagulls have strengthened their squad since Fenelon, 20, made his first team debut on the opening day of the season against Sheffield Wednesday and further senior appearances against Birmingham and Cheltenham.

Boss Sami Hyypia now has four strikers to choose from in new signings Adrian Colunga and Sam Baldock, together with Craig Mackail-Smith and Chris O'Grady.

Fenelon, Albion's top scorer in pre-season, is being loaned out again following temporary spells in Conference South with Tonbridge Angels and with League Two Torquay last season to broaden his education.

Hyypia said: "Shamir did very well in pre-season and that has been of great benefit to his development. Now it is important he continues that, and the experience of playing regular football in League One will help him to contine that progress."

Albion have signed 11 players this summer but Hyypia has not ruled out more transfer inactivity in or out of the Amex before the window closes on Monday night.

The Finnish manager said: "There are still a few days to go so who knows what's going to come? I am very pleased. I now have a very good problem. I need to leave some good players on the bench and some good players will be out of the squad as well.

"I have to be a bit selfish. We don't want to have players on loan and can't call them back and are then in trouble to achieve what we want to achieve but obviously now we have a situation that a few players maybe need games and they will probably go on loan."
