Albion's new marksman Sam Baldock says he has “unfinished business” in the Championship.

Baldock had few chances to shine in two previous cracks at the second tier with West Ham and Bristol City.

The 25-year-old, a prolific goalscorer in the lower divisions at MK Dons and Bristol, is determined to put that right with the Seagulls.

Baldock, poised for his debut against Charlton at the Amex today, started off well at West Ham three years ago before falling out of contention.

He only made ten Championship starts as the Hammers were promoted under Sam Allardyce via the play-offs and then went down with Bristol City.

Baldock told The Argus: “I missed a few games through injury (at West Ham) and when I came back the formation had changed, so I never really got back in for starts. I was coming off the bench but it wasn’t really happening for me.

“I moved to Bristol City and a lot was said and spoken about at the beginning which didn’t seem to materialise.

“It wasn’t the best of dressing rooms and we ended up going down by quite a distance. It was obviously a low point in my career. Making the brave decision to go from West Ham to Bristol didn’t pay off.

“I definitely think there is some unfinished business. I showed previously I am capable of playing at this level.”

Meanwhile, Solly March is expected to be sidelined for up to another four weeks after seeing a specialist about a lower back problem.

The England under-21 playmaker suffered the injury in the pre-season friendly at Crawley.
