ALBION boss Sami Hyypia has vowed to keep Lewis Dunk in check so that the young centre-half fulfills his sky-high potential.

Dunk nodded both equalisers, the second in stoppage time, in the Seagulls’ 2-2 draw against Charlton at the Amex.

Hyypia has predicted a bright future for the 22-year-old, as long as he stays level-headed.

The Finn told The Argus: “I hadn’t heard a lot about him. I watched a few games from last season and I could see he is a promising young central defender who can play football as well.

“I had a good picture in my mind of him and he showed me in pre-season he is as good as I thought.

“I think in the last games he has even improved. If he keeps his concentration levels as they have been for the whole season then he can improve even more and maybe in his career he can go onto good things.

“He has all the attributes for a good centre-back. He’s big, good in the air, quite quick as well and he can play football. I think the sky’s the limit but he needs to keep his feet on the ground and keep concentrating game after game and training after training.

“It’s very important that he keeps his concentration and is not carried away thinking he is better than he is. It’s my job to keep it like this and keep his feet on the ground.”

Albion’s first Championship draw of the season has left them 13th in the early table going into the international break, whenAaron Hughes (Northern Ireland), Greer (Scotland), Jake Forster-Caskey and Christian Walton (England), Joao Teixeira (Portugal) and Vitalijs Maksimenko (Latvia) are all in action for their countries.

The Seagulls’ next game is at promoted Brentford on September 13.
