Albion target chooses Hull

First published in Sport

Albion have lost out to Premier League Hull City in their bid to sign Cork City right-back Brian Lenihan for the development team.

Cork have confirmed that Lenihan has chosen the Tigers.

Both the Seagulls and Hull had offers for Lenihan accepted by Cork.

He had talks with Albion on Monday and with Hull the following day.

Very disappointing but not really surprising. I wonder if it is because the Albion were offering him a p;ace in the development squad rather than in the first team squad. He seemed to have the experience to be given a chance to join the senior squad. I know we have two right backs at present but they are both getting on a bit so Albion may have missed a trick here.

Why?

Our only chance to compete against a Premier club was to offer him the chance of first team football. So if the report is correct and we were looking to put him in the Development Squad then I am not surprised that he chose Hull.

It was posted on here on Thursday that Lenihan had chosen Hull so this is hardly news. Shame he didn't come to BHA but I hope we are now, and have been for the last 3 days, pursuing some other young defender in his place.
26 hours until the Window but I am not expecting any further inward transfer activity unless someone unexpectedly leaves the club other than 'fringe'players on loan.
None the less I shall watch the final day of the Window tomorrow with interest.
UTA.
