Crawley have signed Jamaica international Marvin Elliott on a short-term deal.

The former Millwall and Bristol City midfielder was a free agent and has joined Reds on a month-to-month contract.

Elliott, who has won nine caps for Jamaica, was released by Bristol City in the summer after missing the end of last season with a broken ankle.

The 30-year-old began his career at Millwall where he played in the 2004 FA Cup final before joining Bristol City in 2007.

He has been training with Crawley since last week and is set to make his debut at Preston North End on Saturday.

Manager John Gregory said: “When I found out Marvin was training on his own I couldn’t believe it. I got in touch straight away and invited him to come to train with us.

“It is very rare you get the opportunity to sign someone of Marvin’s experience so we are delighted. It is only a short-term arrangement to begin with but if it works out well for both parties then we’ll see if we can do something more permanent.”
