Albion will have to be on their guard against an upset against Blackpool today.

And this picture from Barnsley’s 2-1 win at the Amex last season underlines why.

No one gave the Tykes much hope when they headed south bottom of the Championship.

But a wonder goal from current Albion midfielder Paddy McCourt helped them to a 2-1 win and proved anything can happen in this division.

It was their first away win of the campaign.

Blackpool also need some away cheer. Their only point in seven games so far came at home when they held Wolves to a 0-0 draw.

But their players might just be told about that Barnsley result as they arrive at the Amex today seeking a first win of the season.

After all, the two Barnsley players in this picture taken that night – David Perkins and Tomasz Cywka – are both likely to be in the visitors’ midfield.

Cywka looks set to start on the right with Andrea Orlandi ruled out by a foot injury.

Boss Jose Riga could ask Nile Ranger to lead the attack with one of Ishmael Miller, Nathan Delfouneso or Francois Zoko alongside him in a 4-4-2 set-up.

Blackpool lost 2-0 at Nottingham Forest on the first day of the season but all subsequent defeats have come by the odd goal.

Ranger hit the post with a penalty when they went down 1-0 to Watford on Tuesday.
