Sam Baldock says Albion’s Capital One Cup challenge will not have gone for a Burton because of complacency.
The Seagulls head for Burton Albion in the last 32 of the competition tomorrow night in danger of becoming the third victims of an upset against the League Two underdogs.
Burton have already dumped out Premier League newcomers QPR and the Seagulls’ Championship rivals Wigan at the Pirelli Stadium.
Striker Baldock, frustrated by Saturday’s 0-0 home draw against struggling Blackpool, said: “There were no doubts in our dressing room how good the Blackpool individuals are and how dangerous they could be.
“Obviously we were expecting to be a bit more of a threat going forward and take our opportunities.
“Wednesday now will be an opportunity to get a victory and belief back in the squad, which I don’t think is missing too much. It’s more frustration than anything else. We’ll pick ourselves up and go again.
“They (Burton) are not going to be under-estimated either. We know what they are about and it’s going to be a tough place to go.”
Burton boss Gary Rowett has dismissed successive defeats for his deposed leaders, 3-0 at AFC Wimbledon and 3-1 at new table-toppers Bury on Saturday, as a “little blip”.
