Rohan Ince insists it is too early to write Albion off as repeat promotion contenders.

Sami Hyypia’s Seagulls go to pacesetters Nottingham Forest today in 18th following four Championship games without a win.

They have eight points from eight games but had only 15 points after 13 matches last season before snatching a play-off place under Oscar Garcia with a last-gasp victory on the final day at Forest.

Ince, on target in Wednesday’s Capital One Cup win at Burton Albion, told The Argus: “Last season we didn't have such a good start either and then we really kicked on come December time, so that is still possible.

“Everyone is positive. We still believe we are a good team. We expect good things.”

Ince is encouraged by the way Albion, facing their first big test at Forest, performed against the top teams last season. They beat champions Leicester home and away and took four points off runners-up Burnley.

He said: "Definitely against tougher teams we went out flying with good confidence and belief. We'd grind out the results and play very well."
