Boss John Gregory is ready to go on the attack as he bids to kick-start Crawley’s stuttering season.

Gregory admits he has been too defensive in the opening nine League One games of the campaign which have seen Reds score just four times.

Crawley have played the majority of their matches with just Izale McLeod on his own up front but Gregory is ready to unleash a more offensive formation against Yeovil Town today.

The arrival of Keith Keane and Marvin Elliott has given Gregory a more solid base in midfield to allow him to contemplate playing Matt Harrold up front alongside McLeod.

Gregory said: “It is about trying to get the right balance and that is my responsibility. We need to be strong going forward but also strong defensively.

“There has been too much emphasis on the defensive side of the game from myself. Apart from that one game against Rochdale (lost 4-0) we have looked pretty solid.

“We played two up front against Rochdale but the other eight didn’t complement them. We had Mitchell (Rose), Emmett (O’Connor) and Bobson (Bawling) behind them and that is a huge responsibility on inexperienced shoulders.

“It wasn’t fair on them and it wasn’t fair on the two strikers but the squad has changed since that day and we now have a much better balance so I will consider lots of things (in terms of formation).

“There is a strong look to our squad now. We look more like a League One football team and more like the kind of team I want so I feel very confident that we can start to climb the table.”
