There is no respite in the injury problems affecting Lewes.

Gary Elphick suffered a fractured wrist in the 2-2 draw with VCD Athletic on Wednesday, a match which Sam Cole missed due to a knee injury.

Jack Walder was due to make his comeback from a fractured ankle in Thursday night’s under-21 game at Burgess Hill but had to pull out due to illness.

Louie John is not eligible for today’s FA Cup tie at Witham Town under the terms of his loan, although he was forced off on Wednesday due to injury.

Midfielder Phil Appiah (ankle) is doubtful.

Assistant boss Danny Bloor said: “It is the best cup competition in the world. We went to Witham on the opening day of the season so we know what to expect. It isn’t going as well as we would like at the moment so this will be a nice distraction from the league.”
