Crawley are keen to secure the services of Marvin Elliott on a long-term basis after the midfielder scored twice on his home debut.

Elliott was only given a short-term deal when boss John Gregory signed him two weeks ago having not played since breaking an ankle in February.

Gregory wanted to assess the Jamaica international’s fitness before offering a longer deal but has been delighted with Elliott’s performances in his two games so far. Assistant manager Paul Groves said: “We want to keep Marvin around for as long as possible.

“He has come in and shown what he is capable of doing so I’m sure that won’t go unnoticed but Marvin was given an opportunity by ourselves and hopefully long may it continue.

“He is a fantastic person to have in and around the dressing room. He is a good pro and on the pitch he has given us another dimension.

“When consider out for a long time and not had a pre-season credit to how he looked after himself. He has given us that solidity in midfield and the fact he has added a couple of goals is a bonus.”
