Crawley boss John Gregory will not rush into offering midfielder Marvin Elliott a long-term deal.

Elliott scored twice on his home debut against Yeovil last weekend after signing on a month-to-month contract two weeks ago.

Gregory has been delighted with the Jamaica international’s impact but wants Elliott to maintain the high standards he has set before deciding on his future.

Gregory said: “I was full of admiration for Marvin on Saturday, not just because he scored two goals but his all round performance.

“He has a fantastic CV for this level so we are very fortunate to have somebody of his stature. I hope he can maintain his fitness and his ability to get around the pitch as well as chipping in with a few goals.

“He has come into the side and had a couple of good games but I don’t want to get too excited. He has set such high standards I will kind of expect that every week and if don’t get it I will be a little bit disappointed.

“We will take it game by game but if he continues to play like that it would be a no-brainer for me and the board.

“I would like to think that come Christmas when his contract is due to expire that we will have extended it but that is down to him.”
