Gordon Greer has put his future on the backburner to concentrate on helping Albion climb up the Championship.

The Seagulls’ skipper and centre-half is out of contract at the end of the season.

Greer received rave reviews for his performance for Scotland in Poland on Tuesday evening.

Fellow veteran Matt Upson earned a move to Premier League newcomers Leicester by performing well alongside him for Albion last season.

But Greer, 33, has made it clear his priority is leading Sami Hyypia’s side to a more comfortable position in the table as he returns to club duty against Middlesbrough at the Amex tomorrow.

Greer told The Argus: “I am sure the time will come near the end of the season when you start to think about your future but at the moment it’s just about winning games and getting up that table.

“I love it here. I was only away for ten days but I have been looking forward to getting back and seeing everyone. It’s up to me to keep my performances going and we’ll see what happens.”

Greer is confident there will be no fatigue hangover from his intense competitive debut for the Scots in their draw in Warsaw after linking back up with the squad with fellow internationals Jake Forster-Caskey (England under-21s) and Aaron Hughes and Paddy McCourt (Northern Ireland).

“I feel fine,” Greer said. “I played one game. I think maybe some of the boys are a bit tired but I’m raring to go.”
