Peacehaven boss Shaun Saunders is pleased with recent signing Joe Gatting.
The former Albion striker netted his third goal in as many games for the Magpies when he scored the winner in a 1-0 league cup victory at Lewes on Wednesday.
Gatting, a professional cricketer with Hampshire after playing for Sussex for a number of seasons, had taken a break from football prior to joining Peacehaven.
Saunders said: “Joe looked a bit rusty in his first game which was understandable because there is being fit and being football fit.
“He is looking better with games and I’m pleased with how he is coming along.
“He will be a good player for us. We knew that when we signed him and it is proving that way already.”
Peacehaven return from a two-week break from league action at home to Witham Town in Ryman premier today.
James Hammond is still missing through illness but Saunders has no injury concerns as he looks to build on seven points from the last three league games.
He said: “We want to keep the momentum going. We had a sticky patch but came out the other side. When you are playing well you want the games to come thick and fast so I didn’t really want the break but it was good for us to get a game at Lewes on Wednesday.”
