Albion boss Sami Hyypia has brushed off scrutiny over his future and vowed to fight, not quit.
Saturday's 2-1 defeat by third-placed Middlesbrough at the Amex dropped the Seagulls to 20th and stretched their winless run in the Championship to eight games.
Hyypia believes he is still the right man for the job but he admitted: "It's not up to me.
"I'm ambitious and I came here to be successful. That's all I intend to do.
"The chairman decides if I'm right for this club but I'm not a quitter, I'm a fighter, and I hope that our team is full of fighters as well."
Albion have overhauled the squad that finished sixth under Oscar Garcia last season with 11 new signings but have won just twice in 12 league games.
Hyypia, asked at what point an injection of different players might be needed, joked: "I need to ask the chairman how much time I have, maybe it depends on that.
"Of course, we need to see why we are not winning games and then try to change it.
"If it appears we have a group of players that it's impossible to change the situation with then we need to do something about it."
